Q-Tip at a Seattle Concert in 2006The performance of rapper Q-Tip has been announced for the stop in Miami, Florida, next August 2 as a part of the International Festival Series “Rock the Bells,” a day-long traveling festival that goes across ten outdoors stages located in different cities and states.

Rock the Bells is more than a live experience for Q-Tip and his fans, but an opportunity to introduce some of his new musical work to be released in the upcoming “The Renaissance” album. This is a long-time waited record, bearing in mind that Q-Tip released his previous solo album in 1999.

Q-Tip recent appearance at Bicentennial Park in between sets with Tribe produced the single “Gettin’ Up” that fans can listen at the rapper’s MySpace website, but from the album “Amplified” (”Vibrant Thing”) to “The Renaissance” there are almost ten years of difference.

The rapper describes “The Renaissance” as a transition work. In a recent interview he said, “I think it went off the track there for awhile, but it’s coming around to something more substantive and more imaginative, which is great.”

At Rock the Bells Q-Tip will perform the heading act alongside A Tribe Called Quest, his former group founded in 1988 that produced two of the most representative hip-hop albums before disbanding ten years later in 1998.

According to Q-Tip, hip-hop is suffering a transition, even though “The Renaissance” is a very hip-hop album plenty of life inspiration that is worth listen to.

Q-Tip was born Jonathan Davis on April 10, 1970, in Harlem, New York and changed his name to Kamaal Ibn John Fareed in the mid-1990s when he was converted to Islam.

Nas!Nas is a rapper that has been in everybody’s mouth since his even before his latest album, “Hip Hop is Dead,” released on December 19, 2006. We heard from Nas this same week expressing his thoughts after Jesse Jackson’s crass remarks on Barack Obama and we will keep hearing from him as his new album is coming up.

“I think Jesse Jackson, he’s the biggest player hater” said Nas about the incident, but he also talked about his new untitled album scheduled to be released next July 15th, although it was leaked to the Internet early this month.

Nas said that “leak is inevitable. Everybody leaks. Everybody knows that. You gonna get leaked. It wasn’t that I was just excited about the leak; I was excited about the record finally being out of my hands. It’s finally out of my clutches. It’s finally out in the world. You gotta embrace that. That’s just people hearing music.”

This untitled album features Chris Brown. Busta Rhymes and The Game and has been produced by DJ Green Lantern, Mark Ronson, Stic Man, Stargatem Salaam Remi, and Polow Da Don. From the new material, “Fried Chicken,” “Breathe,” and “Make the World Go Round” are the first smashing song that soon will climb up the charts.

Nasda was born Nasir Jones on born September 14, 1973, in Queensbridge, New York City, adopting the former stage name of Nasty Nas to debut with the album “Illmatic” in 1994, although many critics consider his 1999 album “Nastradamus” as his breakthrough into the main stream.

Previously scheduled to come out July 22nd, Interscope Geffen confirmed the changed date, but offered no explanation at press time. The rescheduling will mark the rapper’s fourth push back since his original release date on June 24th.

According to the LA Times, Game recently threw a listening party for the album in Santa Monica, California. Although the disc is nearly two months away from dropping, the emcee guaranteed the CD’s completion and gave a shout-out to G-Unit’s 50 Cent.

“It brings me joy to say that I completed my third album,” he told listeners. “I ain’t got no beef with 50. All that [stuff] was on wax. I never shot at him, he never shot at me. Both of us done said a lot. But we’re not Biggie and Pac. I appreciate the homie for helping me on my way up.”

L.A.X. hits stores on August 26th.

Lil Wayne - Tha carter III

Doubt on Lil’ Wayne’s Tha Carter III selling nearly a million in first week sales may cease as the New Orleans, Louisiana rapper’s first-day sales have rounded out at about 423,000.

According to Billboard, the album will easily gain the number one spot on the Top 200 charts and is still expected to sell between 850,000-950,000 at the end of the first week. As previously reported, Tha Carter III may outsell both Mariah Carey and Usher’s first week sales combined.

The nine Nielsen SoundScan merchants that reported make up nearly 80 percent of all U.S. album sales. These accounts include Trans World Entertainment, Best Buy, CircuitCity, Starbucks, iTunes, Target, Borders, Anderson Merchandisers and Handleman Co.

Last year, Kanye West’s Graduation first-day numbers evened out at 437,000, only three percent more as compared to Tha Carter III.

“Detox is NOT dropping in ‘08″ - Bishop Lamont. What the bloody hell? I want to personally talk to Dr. Dre about this fiasco called Detox. I mean, lets be honest here. Rap albums are not what they once were. People have really strong singles and some hot mixtapes, but who is pumping out classic albums these days? Dre (and a few others) are the only ones really carrying the torch in that regards.

And to think…when this video came out..I naively believed. I heard the damn thing is even finished.
