Nas, Hip Hop is (NOT) Dead!

Blogged under Albums by Trusted Writer on Friday 11 July 2008 at 11:57 pm

Nas!Nas is a rapper that has been in everybody’s mouth since his even before his latest album, “Hip Hop is Dead,” released on December 19, 2006. We heard from Nas this same week expressing his thoughts after Jesse Jackson’s crass remarks on Barack Obama and we will keep hearing from him as his new album is coming up.

“I think Jesse Jackson, he’s the biggest player hater” said Nas about the incident, but he also talked about his new untitled album scheduled to be released next July 15th, although it was leaked to the Internet early this month.

Nas said that “leak is inevitable. Everybody leaks. Everybody knows that. You gonna get leaked. It wasn’t that I was just excited about the leak; I was excited about the record finally being out of my hands. It’s finally out of my clutches. It’s finally out in the world. You gotta embrace that. That’s just people hearing music.”

This untitled album features Chris Brown. Busta Rhymes and The Game and has been produced by DJ Green Lantern, Mark Ronson, Stic Man, Stargatem Salaam Remi, and Polow Da Don. From the new material, “Fried Chicken,” “Breathe,” and “Make the World Go Round” are the first smashing song that soon will climb up the charts.

Nasda was born Nasir Jones on born September 14, 1973, in Queensbridge, New York City, adopting the former stage name of Nasty Nas to debut with the album “Illmatic” in 1994, although many critics consider his 1999 album “Nastradamus” as his breakthrough into the main stream.

Ludacris, the First Hip-Hop Act Signing a Deal with AT&T

Blogged under News by Trusted Writer on Thursday 10 July 2008 at 7:29 pm

LudacrisThis month Grammy-award winner rapper and actor Ludacris landed a multi-million dollar contract with AT&T to promote phone services offered by this giant communications company. The advertising campaign will take Luda’s image to both online adverts and TV commercials in which he will play the role of a guy who is missing important calls because he is not enjoying AT&T phone service.

For Ludacris the making of this commercial was plenty of fun and said, “If you like the AT&T commercials you’ve seen then you’ll love this one,” commercial that will be aired starting this August.

In the mean time, Ludacris is working on a concept album, “Theater and Mind” to be released on September 2008. Luda’s previous Grammy Award winning sixth album, “Release Therapy,” was released on September 26, 2006 so there is a great expectation floating in the air.

“Theater and Mind” has already a confirmed track, “Let’s Stay Together” produced by DJ Paul for Luda’s recording label Def Jam. Ludacris declared on a recent interview that he has been closely collaborating with Good Charlotte, a Maryland rock band who is best know for supporting PETA’s animal rights campaigns.

Ludacris has also revealed that he would truly like to work with Eminem, one of the highest-selling rappers of all time, so stay tuned because after signing AT&T’S millionaire deal, Luda’s dream is closer to come true sometime soon.

As of now, Luda’s recent works include a featured participation In New Lloyd’s Video and his memorable appearance on BET’s Black Carpet Tonight show past March.

Hip Hop is heading for the White House

Blogged under On this day by Trusted Writer on Wednesday 9 July 2008 at 8:20 pm

Rosa ClementeIf Obama surprises you a few weeks back, you should not miss the steps of Rosa Clemente towards White House running for Vice President invited to run with Green Party presidential nominee Cynthia McKinney.

Rosa Clemente is a journalist, community organizer and Hip Hop activist who was born on April 18, 1972 in the South Bronx, a New Yorkian borough that has witnessed a wide array of cultural and social movements where music is just one of the many local artistic manifestations.

Rosa has been in the spotlight for the last ten years doing personal presentations, commenting and conducting workshops. Although she has written for a long number of magazines and supported numerous social causes, she was noticed as one of the younger representatives at the United Nations World Conference fighting Racism, Xenophobia, and Intolerance in South Africa,

By the year 2002, Rosa Alicia Clemente was listed among the top 50 Hip Hop Activists by Red Eye Magazine, representing Feminism and Hip Hop alike during the following year, coordinating the first National Hip Hop Political Convention, event that gave birth to a national political agenda for the Hip-Hop generation.

Today Rosa Clemente has stated that “This campaign is the opportunity the Hip-Hop generation has been working for. This is our time to address the issues affecting our communities, rising unemployment, the high cost of food and housing, a lack of quality public education and access to higher education, the prison-industrial complex, and unaccountable corporate media. These issues are not being addressed by either the Republican or Democratic nominee.”

Let’s keep an eye on Rosa’s imperative to make of this world a better place to live.

Jay Z Making History at Glastonbury

Blogged under News by Trusted Writer on Monday 30 June 2008 at 7:48 pm

Jay-Z, Live in OaklandGlastonbury 2008 Festival has witnessed the amazing performance of Jay-Z, the first hip hop artist ever attending the World’s most famous festival. According to the BBC, providing full coverage of the event, Jay-Z literally made Glastonbury bounce on June 28th 2008, day in which he inscribed his name in history as the greatest rapper alive.

Glastonbury or popularly nicknamed as “Glasto,” is an annual festival in South England that presents the best of the performing arts worldwide. From June 27 to June 29th, Jay-Z headlined Glastonbury with an impressive Pyramid stage set.

The night before Glastonbury, Jay-Z was rapping at The Marquee Cork a gig where only “good-natured” gentleman use to appear onstage and making the crowd sings “I hear the rebel boyz in the house tonight,” as soon as he arrived to that place.

People indeed heard one of the rebel boyz, the American rapper that is now part of Glastonbury’s history. Jay-Z was born Shawn Corey Carter on December 4, 1969, another date to put into history. Considered as one of the most financially successful hip hop artists and entrepreneurs, Jay-Z as rapper has sold 50 million units worldwide and 26 million copies in the United States alone.

Despite all the criticism before his performance Jay-Z sold out Glastonbury on Saturday Night and his performance entering the stage with Oasis’ “WonderWall” song and “stealing” the show with “99 problems” was broadcast live by BBC Three? in what it is considered as the most talked about headlining performance in history of the Glastonbury festival.
